Book Week 2024
What a fantastic morning we’ve had celebrating Australian Book Week with our 2024 Parade! It was wonderful to see so many of you there, along with our students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters. Book Week is always a special time in our school year because it's when we celebrate the stories, authors, and illustrators who bring so much joy into our lives through books.
A special thank you to Sietske and Sarah in the Library for creating such a welcoming space for our students this week and to our amazing teachers, parents, and grandparents who have gone the extra mile this week to help foster a love of reading in our students.
Kinder 2025
Kinder enrolments are now open and will close on 30th August. If you know a child born in 2020, living in our catchment, please encourage their family to visit the office to collect and complete an enrolment application. For those with other children currently attending IPS, please remember that your Kinder 2025 enrolment is not confirmed until you have submitted the necessary forms. Thank you in advance for helping us to secure staffing and classes in preparation for 2025.
I’m excited to announce that we will be trialling two three-day Kinder classes in 2025, rather than the traditional five-day fortnight. The feedback I’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive.
Microsoft Form
As I plan for 2025, I’d like to invite you to participate in a feedback survey, which should only take a minute or two to complete. Your feedback is highly valued, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please note that all responses are anonymous and more than one family member can complete the survey.

Surf Life Saving Tasmania
In this edition of the IPS newsletter we would like to congratulate one of our staff members Mrs Philippa Lohrey.
Surf Life Saving Tasmanian has over 3100 members who are committed to saving lives and making a positive impact in their local community. The Awards of Excellence, held on 17th August in Devonport, are an important opportunity to recognise the hard work, selflessness and enthusiasm of our affiliates and members across a range of categories including lifesaving services, community education, marine rescue, training, surf sport competition, coaching and officiating. This year Philippa was nominated for the “Assessor of the Year award” – an endorsed Assessor is someone passionate about building the skills of others, consistently delivering a positive and supportive assessment experience, and who encourages other members to engage in training or assessment within the Surf Life Saving community. In simple terms – Illawarra’s Mrs Lohrey is hugely instrumental and responsible for training and assessing the Surf Life Savers you see over summer on Kingston and Blackmans Bay Beaches, with her SLS hat on she also supports and helps run our Kids’ Matter Beach Day , volunteers hundreds of hours on patrol on top of her assessing duties mentioned above.
All this, on top of being a valued Support Teacher helping our students with additional needs and the TA’s who support them - Well done, Philippa!
